Northumberland County Show

One of Northumberland Day’s ‘Northumbie’ Award sponsors – the Northumberland County Show – will be complementing Northumberland’s Day’s programme of community and food and drink celebration, within it beloved rural showcase that highlights everything that is great about the remarkable county.
Held at Bywell near Stocksfield on 27th May, this is the best family day out this Bank Holiday weekend. The theme of the County Show this year is woodland and forests, with loads of fun things to do to celebrate the centenary year of Forestry England. See the exciting demonstrations by Cumbrian and Welsh Axemen, find the giant tree stilt walkers, watch chainsaw carving, try fire walking, get up close to displays of forestry equipment, vintage vans and rally cars; and enjoy all types of woodland crafts and trade stalls.
Around the show field all the family will enjoy seeing the animals; horses, cattle, sheep, alpacas, pigs, goats, dogs, rabbits and poultry. Enter the fun dog show, dog agility and gun dog scurry or just enjoy watching the fun! There is a 5k fun run, which you can enter by 1pm on the day. If you want to relax, just sit back and listen to live music or watch the chefs’ display in the Taste of the North Food Marquee, with delicious local food and drink. The kids will love the fun fair; pony and donkey rides, karting and owl encounter, where you can even hold a meerkat. There will be thrills and spills in the main arena with the high speed Inter Hunt Challenge – a horseback relay race with quad bikes and obstacles. With bars, food stalls, entertainment and a shopping marquee full of stylish gifts, fashion and homeware, there’s something for everyone.
