Beside the Seaside & Museum Detectives
May 20 @ 10:00 am - August 30 @ 4:00 pm£5
The Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery in Alnwick has a brilliant Beside the Seaside exhibition that sums up the joy of Northumberland family beach holidays over the past 150 years.
Dress up for a day at the seaside and try the Aunt Sally and Donkey’s tail game, look at atmospheric photos of people on holiday, laugh at a puppet show, see that phenomenon that was the knitted swimsuit, try traditional frames and view two of the seaside paintings of internationally renowned and Alnwick-born, Stella Vine.
Children can also seek out 24 seaside mice in the museum’s mouse hunt, with another 20 hiding in the town centre and 6 more little critters at Alnmouth, whilst 11+ children can become museum detectives and take to a trail around the museum, where they will need to use their wits, to answer the questions posed of them.
Please note that the museum is closed on most Mondays, other than Bank Holidays and closed on Sunday May 22. Adult admission is £5, Concessions admission £4 and children aged 5-16 enter for £1.
