Melanie’s Marvellous Northumbrian Food Celebration
May 25 @ 11:00 am - May 31 @ 5:00 pm
Melanie’s Tea Room in Newbiggin-on-Sea will be building on its success in the 2018 Northumbie Awards, by laying on a veritable feast of Northumbrian delights, concocted in her own kitchen and incorporating some of the county’s natural and manufactured produce. Additionally, it is involving its community in its celebrations in a truly inspiring way.
On May 25, some of last year’s favourites, such as Northumberland Nettle Cheese scones and Felton Fruit Loaf will be returning to the menu, along with some completely new temptations such as beef cooked in Hexhamshire Whapweasel beer. The same beer will also be used in a special chocolate and beer cake.
Knit and natter ladies who are regulars at this delightful tea room have been busily creating its own bunting, which will decorate the tea room and give it a great Northumberland atmosphere.
And, also on May 25, there will be a visit from the Newbiggin-on-Sea choir, who will be able to entertain customers and provide a fabulous Northumberland ambience.
The tea room has also launched (from May 13) a competition in which children will be designing a flag that depicts Northumberland. Paints are also on hand, to allow adults and children to paint a pebble and leave it the tea room. These activities will continue until June 1.
Melanie’s tea room is also naming its tables after Northumberland castles, giving each table a little background about the castle and its history.
Head to Melanie’s in the week leading up to Northumberland Day and experience its inimitable blend of great food and authentic Northumbrian hospitality.
